UX/UI design practices for supporting users’ sustainable lifestyle
I just saw the “Climate Pledge Friendly” badge launched on Amazon, in which all products that meet Amazon’s sustainable manufacturing standards will have a unified badge, “Climate Pledge Friendly.” I am really happy because I care about things with sustainable value. This design helps me find products that support such concepts.
In the past few years, I have noticed that many people in the UK share the same values of environmental protection, sustainable concepts, and carbon emission reduction. The UK is on the path to net zero. However, I still often encounter situations where there is a lot of waste in my daily life due to the excessive packaging of products. This makes me wonder if there is anything I can do to make society more environmentally friendly. However, I thought, within the limits of my personal ability, that the only way was to reduce consumption and waste. When I saw Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly badge, I realized that as a UX/UI designer, I can contribute to sustainable living and climate change through design. Digital products are now an integral part of our daily lives, and UX/UI design decisions can influence users’ perceptions and behaviors toward sustainability.
